The Nigerian Immigration Service has concluded plans to partner the Benue State University Teaching Hospital VIP Smart Clinic to provide quality healthcare services for immigration personnel and their families in Benue State.

The Comptroller of Immigration Service in Benue State, Grace Nkankung, made the appeal on Friday, 8 May 2026, during a meeting with the Coordinator of the BSUTH VIP Smart Clinic, Dr. Uko Amos, and his management team in Makurdi.

Mrs. Nkankung commended the Executive Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Stephen Terungwa Hwande, for establishing the clinic, describing it as unique among teaching hospitals in Nigeria.

She praised the clinic’s smart operations, quality healthcare delivery, and strong digital presence, noting that the BSUTH VIP Smart Clinic appeared first when searching online, reflecting its growing visibility and reputation in modern healthcare services.

The Comptroller appealed to the clinic’s management to support the upgrade of the Immigration staff clinic and assist in restoring the Health Insurance Scheme to improve healthcare access for officers and their families across the state.

According to her, the proposed collaboration would succeed because both institutions share values of professionalism, excellence, and efficient service delivery. She added that the Immigration Service remains fully digitalized, with passport and visa applications now processed online.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Uko Amos described the VIP Smart Clinic as a world-class healthcare centre established in June 2025 through the vision of the BSUTH Chief Medical Director. He explained that patients can access consultations physically or virtually through telemedicine services.

Dr. Uko disclosed that the clinic operates round-the-clock with Electronic Medical Records, online appointment systems, gymnasium, lounge, internet facilities, and highly trained personnel. The meeting ended with a facility tour and group photographs as both institutions advanced discussions on formal collaboration.
